Eagle Rock
This project was the addition of a kitchen family gathering area to a gracious, old Tudor home in Montclair. The existing kitchen had been previously renovated but lacked a generous gathering area the family desired. Reimagining the adjacent existing screened porch provided the square footage necessary to give the family the space they desired. We chose custom casement windows with leaded glass mullions to match the existing windows of the house. This provided the kitchen with a flood of natural light and a view of the gardens beyond. The existing slate floor remained as a reminder of the origins of the room. The client’s provincial french antiques, acquired while living abroad, provided the aesthetic direction for the room. Using reclaimed wood for the ceiling and beams, paired with a simple white interior, created the perfect backdrop for displaying and taking everyday pleasure from their collection of antiques.
