Stone House
Stone House is Margaret’s home that she shares with her husband. It is a half-acre property in the small township of Essex Fells. The house was designed in 1929 for John Hopkins by New York City Architects Warren-Shepard-Matthews in the Tudor English cottage style. The home has two-foot thick stone walls and original Fenestra steel casement windows. Excited by the history of the home, the challenge was to redesign the kitchen/dining area while still respecting the intentions of the home's style. The kitchen had been renovated over the years incorporating spaces that were originally the maid's quarters and an outdoor breezeway to the garage. The passage from the kitchen to the dining room was enlarged from three feet to eight feet to allow for the combined use of spaces which is better suited for entertaining.
